airBaltic is the most punctual airline in Europe

Latvian airline airBaltic has retained its place as the most punctual airline in Europe and is the second most punctual in the world according to the OAG analysts. The leading global provider of digital flight information and applications across the travel sector, OAG tracked the performance of over 58 million flight records in 2018 to create a ranking of the best on-time performance (OTP) for the world’s largest airlines and airports.

According to OAG, in 2018 airBaltic achieved an on-time performance rating of 89.17% for flights linking the Baltics to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, CIS, and the Middle Least. More than 89 out of 100 airBaltic flights arrived on time in 2018. airBaltic has been on the top of the global on-time performance ranking for the past five consecutive years.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic, noted: “Being the most punctual airline in Europe is a true recognition of the great job our team is doing every day. In 2018, we had another record year, while still improving the excellent service and world leading punctuality. This shows that our passengers can rely on us.”

airBaltic serves over 70 destinations from the Baltic cities of Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius, offering the largest variety of destinations and convenient connections via Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS, and the Middle East. For summer 2019, airBaltic will launch new direct routes from Riga to Dublin, Ireland; Stuttgart, Germany; and Lviv, Ukraine. In addition, next summer airBaltic will introduce three new destinations from Tallinn (Estonia) to Malaga (Spain), Brussels (Belgium) and Copenhagen (Denmark).

John Grant, Senior Analyst for OAG praised the airline: “airBaltic continues to provide the best on time performance of any airline based in Europe achieving a very respectable 89.17% operating on time; which in the global rankings secured second place. For any airline to consistently achieve the levels that airBaltic has over the last four years reflects a real focus within the company on this key indicator, especially whilst both introducing and being the launch customer for the Airbus A220-300 aircraft.”

In addition to OAG most punctual airline award, airBaltic has received numerous other international awards for excellence, innovative services, and achievements in reshaping its business. In 2017, the airline received the CAPA Regional Airline of the Year awards, while in 2018 airBaltic received the ATW Airline Industry Achievement Award as the Market Leader of the Year. airBaltic achieved the best on-time performance globally in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
