Circle K Business Centre Riga wins the Recognition Award in USA-Europe Shared Services Summit

Reflective of the global trends, Global Business Service Centers (GBSC) is a rapidly growing sector in Latvia, and the recent award received by Circle K Business Centre shows that business centres dislocted in Riga are being recognized globally. Circle K Business Center won the nomination “Top US SSC Investor in Baltics” during the annual USA-Europe Shared Services Summit & Awards Gala, held 20th June in New York.

The competition was organized by the European Business Services Association, and participants included SSC/BPO/ITO companies from Central and Easter Europe with headquarters in the US. Nine top American companies were distinguished for their operational excellence with Europe-based delivery centres. The winners were picked from among 33 top companies short-listed for their high-performance operating models and delivery excellence.

Earlier in the year, the Riga-based Shared Service Center (SSC) of the Swedish ICT company Tele2 also won a global award. Tele2 SSC received TOP Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Year in Central & Eastern Europe (CCE) for its campaign “Girls Make IT Happen” during the 6th Central Eastern Europe Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards.

Both foreign companies enjoy Latvia’s business-friendly environment and the success of their operations can be contributed to the highly qualified labour force in the GBS sector in Latvia. Established in 2012, Circle K Center Riga has grown today to 500 employees, and 200 of those speak Scandinavian languages. The Riga team provides services to support 3000 stores, 20 000 European employees and offices in nine European countries. The biggest office in the Circle K Family across globe, the Riga Centre employees work in the areas of finance & control, global fuel sourcing, supply & distribution, human resource operations & development, IT infrastructure & service desk, customer service, procurement, sales & marketing and performance management.

Established in 2004, Tele2 SSC Riga is a Tele2 AB Group company. The Riga Center provides customer management, accounting services, billing solutions and services to all Tele2 AB Group companies in eight countries – Croatia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. Its unique and creative campaign ‘’Girls Make IT Happen’’ that won the award gained a widespread popularity in Latvia and abroad. The goal of the project was to increase the employment rate of women in ICT sector and to even the gender gap in ICT.
