UK-based Grant Instruments formed a joint venture with Biosan in Latvia in 2005. Founded in 1952, Grant Instruments manufactures and designs equipment for sample preparation, scientific analysis, data acquisition and data analysis providing solutions to the global scientific and industrial markets. The company is organised into two focus areas – scientific and data acquisition. Biosan is the exclusive producer and distributor of Grant Instruments equipment in the three Baltic countries – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States.

Biosan has been producing modern equipment for biotechnological and biomedical laboratories for more than 23 years. The company’s technically and functionally innovative equipment and instruments are designed to prepare samples for further analysis in genomics (DNA research), proteomics (protein research using biotechnology) and cellomics (quantitative cell analysis). The company exports nearly all of its production to Germany, UK and Russia. Since the founding of Biosan in 1992, its turnover has increased tenfold.
