International conference “Technology Transfer - Title, Profession, System or Action!”

Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) in partnership with Technology and Innovation Agencies of EU (such as Austria Wirtschaftservice, VINNOVA, ASTP, ProTon Europe, LESI International, IWT Flanders, ASTER) in February 24. - 25, 2009, in Riga is organizing an international Conference “Technology Transfer - title, profession, system or action!” .

Success story of the previous planning period - Grindex opens new Analytical Scaling Laboratory

On the 19th of June 2007 JSC Grindex, the leader of the Baltic pharmaceutical sector, opened a new Analytical Scaling Laboratory which is the only laboratory of its kind in the Baltic States and one of the few in Eastern Europe.

fDi Magazine’s European Cities and Regions of the Future 2010/11 shortlists, which took more than six months to research and involved the collection of data for 223 cities and 142 regions in Europe, ranked Riga, the capital of Latvia, the Best Large European City for Cost Effectiveness, with Vilnius (LT) and Lviv (UA), ranking second and third, respectively.

On June 26th, Eurostat (ec.europa.eu/eurostat) released the latest figures for tax burdens in Europe. According to the report, EU27 tax revenues in 2006 were at 39.9% of GDP. Meanwhile Latvia’s tax burden was among the lowest in the European Union with 30.1% of GDP.
