From July 13-22, 2011, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, Mr Valdis Dombrovskis will pay a working visit to the United States. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a business delegation as well as the director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) Mr Andris Ozols. The Prime Minister and delegation will pay visits to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and New York, participating in a series of workshops, primarily focusing on economic cooperation between Latvia and the United States. The Ministry of Economics of Latvia alongside the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) has developed a new strategy to promote foreign direct investment in Latvia and it is called the POLARIS process. The POLARIS process is an investment strategy focused on the economic growth and development of Latvia. The strategy is based on the alliance between the public sector including national and local governments, the private sector covering national and international companies, investors willing to invest in Latvia, and finally, major Latvian academic institutions incorporating the main universities and research institutions.
