Meet the Investment TeamAgnese Buša, Head of LIAA’s Investment Promotion Division My main responsibilities in the Division are to advise international investors on establishing operations in Latvia and to provide overall leadership and support for our team. I have an extensive knowledge of all aspects of investment development and management, enabling me to skillfully serve investors. My previous professional experience has included work as a project manager in the logistics industry, as well as consultative roles in the public sector. Most recently, I served in LIAA’s Customer Service Division, where I advised companies and municipalities on a number of State aid and EU Structural Funds programs for the development of private and public projects. I have a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Latvia and a master’s degree in business administration from the BA School of Business and Finance in Riga. I am the lead advisor for investors in the ICT (including SSC/BPO) and Healthcare sectors. I am also responsible for LIAA’s real estate database, a comprehensive inventory of available locations enabling us to find the most suitable site solutions for investment clients. My professional experience has included project management work in the public sector, largely focused on serving investment development. Before joining the Investment Promotion Division team, I worked in LIAA’s Information Resources Division, where I conducted research and analysis of business issues—providing me a thorough knowledge of the Latvian business environment and how it compares internationally. I have also served as an elections monitor, conducting analysis of media reports, as well as a specialist for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participating in policy formation processes. I have studied political science at the University of Latvia. Languages spoken: Latvian, English, Russian.
I am the lead advisor for investors in the Metalworking (including machinery and electronics) and Life Science sectors. My professional background provides me with accomplished management experience for leading engagements with investors. My career has included project management and operational roles for various development projects, including the creation of the national memorial park “Likteņdārzs” and administration of the largest educational development foundation in Latvia. I joined LIAA after studying in the United States for two years as a Fulbright Scholar. I received an executive master’s degree in public administration and master’s in international relations from Syracuse University in New York. I also have a master’s degree in business administration from the Riga Business School of Riga Technical University. Languages spoken: Latvian, English, Russian, some Spanish
I am the lead advisor for investors in the Transport and Logistics sector, and I provide support for investors in the ICT (including SSC/BPO) sector. My professional experience includes financial estimation in the construction industry. I am currently studying business administration at the BA School of Business and Finance in Riga. At the university, I have served as an elected representative in student government, and have participated in several national and international simulation projects, with teams developing solutions to economic and social issues. I am the lead advisor for investors in the Woodworking and Greentech sectors. My professional and academic background has focused on law and European integration, providing me with knowledge of Latvia’s legal system and EU Structural Funds offered as financial incentives to investors. Before joining the Investment Promotion Division, I served in LIAA’s Legal Department, solving legal issues and evaluating State and EU programs for the development of private and public projects. My experience at LIAA includes a one-year sabbatical, during which I earned a master’s of advanced studies in European integration from the Europainstitut at the University of Basel, Switzerland. I have a law degree and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Latvia. Languages spoken: Latvian, English, German, Russian
I served in the Japanese diplomatic service for over 40 years in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Based on my experience in the Japanese government and contacts with the business community, I am promoting economic relations with Japan. I joined the Agency in December 2005, following two years at the helm of the Japanese Embassy in Latvia. Languages spoken: Japanese, English, Norwegian and some Latvian.
