Syntagon
In 2005, Syntagon expanded its Swedish operations and launched a contract research center for the synthetic preparation of organic substances in Riga.
Syntagon is a contract research organization that offers the synthetic preparation of organic substances in quantities from milligrams to kilograms. In addition to synthetic and process development expertise Syntagon offers a wide range of analytical chemistry services and crystallization expertise.
During the first stages of the project, the center in Riga employed personnel of 3; the staff was then expanded to 12 in the spring of 2006. Syntagon plans to increase its operations even further with the extension of its existing laboratory facilities and the further hiring of highly qualified Latvian staff.
By 2007 half of Syntagon’s entire company will be based in Riga. The links are strong between the two parts of the company. Both sites share the same management and sales organization and frequently collaborate on an operational level making use of each other’s state-of-the-art facilities.
For this type of project it was essential to have access to high caliber specialists with PhD degrees, and Latvia, with its strong R&D traditions, is able to offer this.
