The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) – a government agency, reporting to the Ministry of Economics is tasked with promoting the development of entrepreneurship and the competitiveness of Latvian business, both within Latvian and foreign markets, and promoting an increase in foreign direct investments. The function of LIAA is to act as a link between the Latvian and foreign businesses providing information about business opportunities in Latvia, relevant legislation, the taxation system, the national economy and external trade. LIAAproject managers assist in finding the right co-operation partners, arranging visits of foreign business people to Latvia and missions of Latvian companies abroad. The services are paid by the Government of Latvia and free of charge to the client.
