Latvia can offer Germany various digital solutions in the areas of port management digital technology, construction, and other fields. "We see interest in cooperation at both the strategic and practical levels. The German side is interested in opportunities to invest in Latvia and use our services, such as various digital solutions in finance, port management, and other areas," emphasizes Ieva Jāgere, Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, commenting on the trade mission currently taking place in Germany, which began on September 24 and will continue until September 26.
In Hamburg, Latvian companies, together with representatives of the Port of Hamburg, continued work on the activities included in the Memorandum on Maritime Technology and Digital Innovation signed in June this year, which brings together the Freeport of Riga, LMT, SIA Elektroniskie sakari and LVR Floti from Latvia, as well as the Port of Hamburg Authority and the Port of Hamburg Fleet from Germany. The memorandum provides for joint work on the implementation of 5G and artificial intelligence solutions in port digitalization, cyber security and strengthening logistics resilience.

We are working on four areas of development in port management and digitization to identify applications and develop solutions that will create high added value for the entire sector."
Ports and logistics is one of the seven thematic areas in which the trade mission is organized. Separate programs are also offered to companies in the defense industry, construction, biotechnology, smart energy, financial technology, and information technology.
During the visit to Hamburg, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Riga Technical University and HafenCity University, which focuses on sustainable urban environment and mobility solutions. Several Latvian strategic projects within the framework of public-private partnerships were also presented, with more than 20 investors from Germany participating. Investors were presented with projects such as the development of the Kundziņsala terminal in the Port of Riga, Riga East Hospital, the development of Riga Airport, and others.
In Rostock on September 25 and 26, the delegation will meet with companies from various sectors and participate in the Latvian-German Business Day, which will bring together more than 250 participants and focus on the development of the energy, digitalization, infrastructure, and defense industries.
