An agreement on rent of pavilion for Latvia's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai has been signed by the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Latvia H.E. Hanan Khalfan Obaid Ali Al Madhani and Deputy State Secretary of Ministry for Economics of Latvia Raimonds Aleksejenko.

As announced before, the international fair Expo 2020 in Dubai was originally set to take place between October 2020 and March 2021 but its start has been postponed by a year due to the spread of Covid-19.

The agreement stipulates that Latvia will participate in the fair with a pre-built pavilion, where Latvian exhibits will be located and business and cultural events will be organized. The pavilion will be arranged in line with the theme of the fair.

Aleksejenko stressed the importance of Expo 2020 both for Latvia and the whole world, as it will most likely be the first global event after Covid-19 crisis and play an important role in recovery of economies. The main goal of Latvia is to increase country’s visibility both in the Middle East and globally thus enhancing the competitiveness of Latvian businesses, boosting exports and attracting investment.

The Deputy State Secretary of Ministry for Economics of Latvia also presented the new model to organise Latvia’s participation at the event, according to which the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia will be actively involved in the process.
